Love This Product: Purity One-step facial cleanser

Love This Product:

I have been using Philosophy's one-step facial Purity, for over a year and it never gets old. I recently decided to get crazy and try out various drugstore brand mascaras comparing them to high-end brands. I must say, I was nervous, that I might come out with no lashes from removing some of the harsh mascaras day after day. But yet again Purity did not fail me. A little really does go a long way with this product. It easily removes eye makeup without irritating my eyes and using a ton of product. Thankfully with saved lashes and all, Purity has become my all-time Favorite cleanser.

Award winning naturally made facial cleanser is designed to cleanse, remove makeup and tone while lightly hydrating the skin in just one step. At the end of a long day of shooting I am too tired to pull out makeup remover, a cleanser and then a toner. What a Hassel when I can just use purity

Loving Rachel Rachel Roy Jewelry line to Jazz-up my all black attire

With beauty comes fashion, for the professional makeup artist it’s hard with our artistic personalities to just wear all black on the job (well for me it is). So I am always looking for ways to jazz-up my all black professional attire. Not all makeup artists wear all black. But on a set once working with a very prestigious movie producer, turned photographer I was told professionals always wore all black. From that day I vowed to never show up on the job with out wearing all black, weather others didn’t mind or not. I am not the kind of girl to just wear plain black slacks and shirt so when days I have options I like to be a little more fashion forward.

So set out to find clothing and jewelry lines that appealed artist-professional style, yet add a little more my black pant and shirt. Immediately fell in-love Rachel Roy’s jewelry line “Rachel Rachel Roy”, it became one of my favorite go to jewelry lines to jazz-up my usual all black attire.

She has created fabulous fun jewelry that caught my eye because of its uniqueness and creativity:

Why is Salicylic Acid Great for Exfoliating?

Not Just for Models!

Anyone who knows me knows I am a Fanatic about finding new products that work and WHY! For some time I did Aspirin Masks. Basically because of its main ingredient it is one of the best ways to get rid of acne prone skin and hyper pigmentation. Not to mention, it is incredibly inexpensive. By crushing a few uncoated tablets and mixing it with peroxide you can improve your skin.

How so?

Crushing the aspirin gives it a grainy texture, which is perfect for deep exfoliation. One of Aspirin's main ingredients is Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) regularly known as Salicylic Acid. BHA, which is an exfoliate, removes the dead skin cells on the epidermis allowing new skin cells to restore. BHA improves hyper pigmentation, acne, wrinkles and roughness.

I loved using this mask and kept it as my beauty secret. But from the start there were some substantial Cons that made doing this mask a complete hassle. It was messy, time consuming, got all over my clothes and not to mention the constant sneezing from the desecrated aspirin. As I got busier I had started to cut back on my “time consuming beauty secret” and I began to develop acne on my skin. I was not exfoliating! As a professional makeup-artist, how could I approach my clients with acne all over my skin? So I decided to hit up my local Sephora and try some new products with the same key ingredient in the aspirin mask, my good friend Beta Hydroxy acid! I was happy to know that many skin care lines that carried exfoliatant products have BHA in them, but refer to it as Salicylic acid. It usually comes in concentration of 1 or 2%. Back to healthy skin without the mess!

Tips:
  • Do Not Exfoliate everyday. Start off slow! Once a week than gradually adding more days no more than 3 times a week.
  • BHA makes your skin 4 times more sensitive to UVA's and UVB's rays. Make sure you use a Sunscreen to protect you skin. (read my post on sunscreen)

Sunscreen! Not just for those Sunny days

NOT JUST FOR MODELS

Sunscreen is one of the most important Beauty Secrets for great skin, preventing hyper-pigmentation and premature aging. A lot of people have the misconception that Sunscreen should only be applied when outdoors, but in-fact UVA rays can penetrate through windows. Not Scared Yet? There are two types of rays that come from sunlight. UVA, which stands for Ultraviolet A, and Ultraviolet B, known as UVB. Both are "No Bueno".

UVA rays can diffuse through windows and penetrate deep in the dermis, which is the thickest layer of skin. The Dermis holds two main Structural Components (collagen and elastic fibers) that keep your skin Healthy and Youthful. Exposure to UVA rays is one of the leading causes of skin cancer and premature aging, such as age spots(those aren't "new" freckles) and wrinkles.

UVB rays are burning rays. They are blocked by windows but are still the leading cause of sunburn. Both UV's can cause skin cancer.

How does Sunscreen work?

Sunscreen absorbs UV rays and turns it in to a less dangerous form of energy.

Tips

  • Apply sunscreen after moisturizer or just use moisturizers that contain sunscreen in it .
  • Apply 15 to 20 mins before leaving the house.
    • Like food, sunscreen CAN expire. Check expiration dates.
  • Start Young.
